The Luxe Cafe Premier is the most interesting thing to land in the Australian home-espresso market this year, and it arrives at a price that makes the usual premium picks look expensive. It is genuinely three machines: a 19-setting espresso brewer, a filter coffee maker and a rapid cold brew system, all fed by a built-in conical burr grinder with an integrated scale so you are dosing by weight rather than guessing. The assisted tamper takes the single biggest variable out of pulling a consistent shot, and Barista Assist recommends a grind size then watches the extraction and tells you what to change. The Dual Froth System is the standout. It steams and whisks at the same time with four auto presets, including a dedicated oat milk setting, and it runs hands-free, so you are not learning to texture milk on a wand while your espresso cools. Four espresso styles, four coffee styles and seven cup sizes cover essentially every drink an Australian cafe would serve you. It is not a bean-to-cup automatic, so there is still a portafilter to lock in and a basket to knock out. Build quality is a step below the Breville above it, and with only a few dozen ratings it has a shorter track record on Amazon AU than the machines it is competing with.
